Paul's last 2 years at Luton Town as a player were dominated by multiple muscular injuries, causing him to retire early. This created an interest in cause of injury and prevention and was the catalyst which led him to discover his breakthrough findings. He has carried out in excess of 75,000 treatments and assessments all of which were used to discover fundamental movement dysfunctions which underlie most lower limb muscular / tendinous issues. It would be difficult to imagine anyone more suited to assessing problem patient's and he has honed his knowledge and manual skills around this to develop the “Showler Protocol.”

His method of assessing the body - in particular position and movement - is unique, and it is this that enables him to identify and rehabilitate dysfunctions in professional footballers when their clubs' medical staff can’t.
Having recently saved the careers of a number of young footballers, his approach is not only very successful, but much sought after in a field which is inundated with a rising number of repetitive soft tissue problems. He continues to study, test and enhance his knowledge on this subject - and provides results where most expert physiotherapists don’t.
Paul was a professional footballer for 15 years. His clubs were Sheffield Wednesday, Barnet, Bradford City & Luton Town. He obtained 2 semi-professional England caps & previously worked in anaesthetics within the operating theatres of Doncaster Royal Infirmary. He was also a medic in the riot squad within West Yorkshire Police Force. When he retired as a professional footballer he obtained a physiotherapy degree, worked as head physiotherapist at Peterborough United Football Club for 7 years, has worked with 5 international football managers & run his own private physiotherapy clinic for 25 years. He is a scratch golfer & he specialises in Human bio-mechanics, dysfunction & movement analytics.
